Scientific research

Faculty members are engaged in scientific and research activities in the Field of Engineering and Technology.

Their scientific activity focuses on two disciplines: „Information and Communication Technology” and „Automation, Electronics, Electrical Engineering and Space Technologies”.

Research conducted by the Faculty members falls within the World’s mainstream of IT technology development and concentrates on areas of top importance to science and modern economy.

Electronics: signal processing methods, microwave technology and detecting microsystems, micro- and nanoelectronics, thin film optoelectronics and photovoltaics, and magnetic multilayer systems.

Information and Communication Technologies; Telecommunications: high performance computing, big data analytics, large scale computing, data center and cloud computing, hybrid IT environments, virtual and augmented reality, machine learning, artificial intelligence, ICT systems design, communication architectures and systems: fiber optic, wireless and cellular, social networking, Internet of Things and Future Internet, reliability, and cybersecurity.

Research is carried out in national projects, international projects and in cooperation with the Polish companies and IT concerns.

The research is financed by Polish institutions statutorily caring for the development of science in Poland, agencies intermediating in the distribution of EU funds for science and research and enterprises engaging their own funds.

Teaching and research – outcomes

The most visible result of many years of education, top-level research and cooperation with economic partners is the IT ecosystem in Kraków and Małopolska Region. According to various sources, it employs about 50,000 specialists. A significant group are graduates of the FCSET (formerly: FEACSE), who in some companies constitute from a dozen to several dozen percent of the technical and managerial staff.
